Famous Economist 'Interviews': An Introduction

famous economist, karl marx, adam smith, john maynard keynes, keynes by Viva Avasthi

As a new regular feature, I will be 'interviewing' some renowned economists to try and develop a better understanding of the various economic fields of thought, models (as in graphs used to explain theories) and problems as well as potential solutions. At the start of each 'interview', I will provide a short biography of each economist before asking some questions.

These questions are most likely to be related to the economists' theories and their contributions to the subject, but some questions will also be to do with how the economists might have chosen to tackle modern problems if they were still alive. Some economists that I interview might be contemporary economists and therefore might still be living, so I will base their answers on responses that they have already made to various issues and questions. However, if it is possible, I might try to contact the economists to get answers to my questions directly from them!

Some of the economists that I will be 'interviewing' include:
  • Adam Smith
  • John Maynard Keynes
  • Chanakya
  • Nicolo Machiavelli
  • Aristotle
  • Karl Marx
  • Amartya Sen

Please note that I might not interview them in that order and there will, of course, be others that I will interview.

If you have any suggestions about who I should interview and specific questions that I should ask, please comment below!

  2. Personally, I am very interested in the 'interviews' that involve Chanakya and Machiavelli because they are not contemporary economists which will make their interviews very intriguing. What a great idea for a series of articles!

    1. I, too, am very interested in the past as well as the future of economics and that's why I thought it would be a good idea to involve the perhaps less acknowledged economists from the past.

  3. Very interesting Viva.
You might as well interview some contemporary and past leaders in business as well, as their take on the current economic events might be as important if not more than the economists..
But a brilliant idea. Keep it up.

  4. Uh,so where did you interview Marx and Amartya Sen? Would be interesting, more so because the latter has had inspirations from the former.
